Frances R. Kapinus

Frances R. Kapinus, age 82, of Prairie du Chien, died unexpectedly Monday, December 23, 2002 at her home.

She was born October 21, 1920 in Stacyville, Iowa, daughter of Michael and Maggie (Reinhart) Faas.

She married Lawrence Kapinus on February 24, 1941 at St. John's Church in Prairie du Chien. He preceded her in death on March 11, 1990.

She worked as a cook for the Savory Cafe, Dunbar's Cafe, the Highway Grill and later for the Prairie du Chien Public Schools until her retirement in 1992. She was a member of the Eagles Club in Prairie du Chien.

She is survived by three sons: Larry (Donna) of Prairie du Chien, Bill (Mary) of Wauzeka, and Jerry of Madison; a brother Michael (Mary Jane) Faas of Prairie du Chien; a sister Germaine Foley of Wauzeka; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a daughter Sharon Kapinus.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Friday at St. John's Catholic Church with Rev. James Warosh S.J. officiating and burial in the Calvary Cemetery, both in Prairie du Chien.

The Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien, was in charge of arrangements.
