FATHER OF JACK'S COLTS

The news of the sudden passing of John C. "Jack" Faas last Saturday has certainly created a large measure of profound sorrow among every man, woman and child in this vicinity, as he was numbered among our most highly respected citizens. He has scores of friends, for miles around, who will be grieved to hear of his sudden demise.

John C. Faas was born in Schlinger, Wisconsin, June 10th, 1869 and died at the home of his brother George Faas, Sr., May 15, 1926, aged 56 years, 11 months and 5 days. He was seventh of eight children born to Mr. and Mrs. Benedict Faas.

At the age of 5 years he came with his parents to Stacyville where he has since resided. He lived on a farm near Stacyville until about twenty years ago when he moved to town.

Mr. Faas was prominent as a ball player in his early manhood and was an ardent baseball fan all his life. A few years ago he organized and managed a ball team called "Jack's Colts" composed of local boys who gained considerable success on the diamond. Mr. Faas was Mayor of Stacyville for several years.

He passed away after an illness of short duration. The funeral was held at Visitation church of which he was a member, Tuesday morning at nine o'clock and interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
