S. E. Colby, Former
Osage Man, Dies at
Crystal, North Dakota

S. E. Colby was born at Brownsdale, Minnesota, January 21, 1878, the son of Bryon Eri and Ida Campbell Colby. At an early age his parents moved to Taylor, Wisconsin where he lived until 1892. Then the family came to Osage. He attended the Osage public schools.

He took his training as a railroad agent, and did other railroad work, under D. M. Loban, agent at the Illinois Central depot.

In 1908 he was married to Ina Hamford, of Mitchell.

Surviving are six children: Inez Colby Westby, of Littleton, Colorado; Marian Colby Whelan, Catherine Colby Belland, and Clair Colby of Crystal, North Dakota; Stanley Jr., of Shelbyville, Indiana' and Dorothy Colby at home. Also surviving is a sister, Hattie Colby, of Osage, and a brother, Lloyd, of Nashua.
