DIES SUDDENLY AT
HOME IN IOWA CITYDr. Alfred H. Joehnk, 61, died last Friday morning at his home at Iowa City following a heart attack. His death came just two months after his wife died.
The Joehnk family lived in Osage for several years prior to moving to Iowa City. They occupied the residence here which is now the home of Dr. G. A. Lott.
A son, Edwin Joehnk, married the former Mary Evens, daughter of Mrs. E. K. Evans.
The Iowa City Press-Citizen gives the following account of the life of Dr. Joehnk:
Dr. Joehnk was born February 4, 1883, at Bryant. He was graduated from the Chicago School of Veterinary Medicine.
In 1909 he was married to Minnie Hinricksen. After their marriage they lived at Charlotte where Dr. Joehnk established a private practice. Later they moved to Osage. While there Dr. Joehnk served eight years as state veterinarian. The family moved to Iowa City in 1929 where Dr. Joehnk practiced till his death.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Delmar.
Dr. Joehnk is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Merle Edwards of Racine, Wisconsin, Mrs. H. Sidwell Smith of Muscatine, and Mrs. Lee Stryker of Iowa City; one son, Edwin S. Joehnk of Chicago; two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services were held at the Oathout Funeral Chapel Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery. The Rev. James Waery of the Congregational Church officiated.

OSAGE – Dr. Alfred H. Joehnk, 61, died Saturday at his home at Iowa City following a heart attack, according to word received by friends here. His wife age 56 died just two months before him.
The Joehnk family live in Osage for eight years before moving to Iowa city and during that time Dr. Joehnk served as state veterinarian. He had practiced at Iowa City for 15 years.
Born February 4, 1883, at Bryant, he graduated from the Chicago School of Veterinary Medicine. In 1909 he married Minnie Hinricksen. After their marriage they lived at Charlotte where Dr. Joehnk established a practice.
He leaves three daughters; Mrs. Merle Edwards, Tacine, Wisconsin; Mr. H. sidwell Smith, Muscatine; and Mrs. Lee Stryker, Iowa City; and a son Edwin S. Joehnk of Chicago.
