GEMAEHLICH, BEHRENDS, STINDT

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 24, 1984, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage for Edith Gemaehlich, who died Friday, April 20, 1984, at the White House nursing home. Rev. Larsen officiated at the service, and burial was in the Osage City Cemetery. Champion Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She was born on May 5, 1897, in Vista [La Vista?], Nebraska, to Eggbert and Margaret (Stindt) Behrends. She married Andrew Gemaehlich on February 7, 1915 in Sterling, Nebraska, and they moved to Rock township, Mitchell County, Iowa, in 1923.

In 1929 they moved to Osage, and she has lived here since.

Mrs. Gemaehlich was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one daughter, Erma Nosser; one grandson, Merlyn Semm; and one sister, Geraldine Townsend.

She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Arnold (Alberta) Semm, Oakley, Calif.; Mrs. Margaret Meyer, Fort Bragg, California; Mrs. Harley (Victoria) May, Beloit, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Dean (Loella) Adams, Franklin, Wisconsin; a son, Duane, La Grande, Oregon; three sisters: Mrs. Clara Hunt, Denver, Colorado; Mrs. Lawrence (Laura) Davis, Limon, Colorado, and Mrs. Edna Davis, Flagler, Colorado; and a brother, Herbert Behrends, Agate, Colorado; 22 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
