Theodore E. Tiemann

Funeral services for Theodore Tiemann, 85, of St. Ansgar, Iowa, were held on Thursday, April 19, 1984, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar. Rev. N. Betke officiated at the service, and burial was in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar. He died Monday, April 16, 1984 at the Stacyville nursing Home where he had resided since December.

Theodore E. Tiemann was born in July 1898, to Ernest and Dorothea Tiemann at Lincoln, Kansas. He received his elementary education in a Lutheran school in Lincoln, and further education at Concordia College, Seward, Nebraska. In 1970 he received the Master Teacher Award from this school.

He was united in marriage to Pauline Dittmer of Independence, Kansas, on December 30, 1920. They adopted a daughter, Dorothy, in 1927. He taught in Lutheran schools in Juniata, Nebraska, Brighton, Colorado, and Oakland and Fremont, California, for a total of 46 years.

They retired to St. Ansgar in 1967 where Mrs. Tiemann passed away in 1970. In 1972 he married Esther Erxleben in Stanton, California, where he lived until her death in 1979. He then moved back to St. Ansgar to live with his daughter and family.

Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy of St. Ansgar; a son-in-law, Arthur Janzow of St. Ansgar; three grandchildren, Judy Janzow, Jeanne Houchins and Ted Janzow and one brother, Ernest of Austin, Texas.
