During this time he signed a pledge to follow Christ, he was also a member of the Christian Endevor of the Baptist church of Little Cedar and was always ready to take an active part in all church work.

His death came as a great shock to his parents and friends as they had received calls telling of his safe arrival overseas and knew not of his death until last Monday, word came to them that the body was in New Jersey, from where it was shipped to Osage, accompanined by a soldier.

The funeral service was held at the home of his parents near Little Cedar Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. Samuel Miller, pastor of the Baptist church of Little Cedar.

His body was laid to rest in the Little Cedar Cemetery.

The I.O.O.F. lodge of which the deceased was a member, had charge of the services at the grave. The entire community mourns with the family in their loss of their boy who made the supreme sacrifice for this country.

"And could we choose the time
And choose aright,
Tis best to die, our honor
At the height."
