KENT HILL DIED AT
ROCHESTER HOSPITAL
SATURDAY MORNINGSorrow came to the Press-News office last saturday morning, when Kent Hill, 6-year-old son of Stannard Hill, of the mechanical staff of the newspaper, passed away at St. Mary's Hospital after only a brief illness. Death was entirely unexpected.
Kent's health hadn't been good since early in the year, as he suffered from asthma and related trouble, but he entered school at the opening of the term and seemed to be improving. A week before his death he became ill, having periods of high temperature -- seemingly a variation of flu.
Last Thursday he seemed much better, with promise of being well again in a few days; but that night he became worse again, and declined rapidly Friday. That evening it was decided to take him to Rochester, but he passed away there at 2 o'clock Saturday morning, about three hours after arriving at the hospital.
OBITUARY
Kent Stannard Hill was born in Osage, Iowa, July 23, 1930, the son of Stannard and Amy DeLaney Hill. He died on October 24, 1936, after a short illness from pneumonia. Nothing was left undone that loving hands or medical science could render to alleviate his sickness, and as a last resort he was taken to Rochester, Minnesota, Friday evening, where several specialists were called to attend him, but all to no avail. He is survived by his parents and little sister, Sandra, besides the other relatives and a very large number of sorrowing friends.
Kent was a most likeable little fellow. He was bright, he was very clever, he was keenly alert to everything, and there was an eagerness about him that fairly beamed. He attended the kindergarten conducted by Mrs. Lesch last year, and this year he was a member of the first grade in Miss Power's room. He was one of the best pupils in that grade.
Funeral services were held at the Champion Funeral Home at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by Dr. C. Chalice and Rev. Stiles Lessly, with burial in the cemetery at Little Cedar.
