Funeral services for Mrs. Betsy Rust, 85, who died at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital December 23, 1951, were held December 26, at the First Lutheran church with Rev. O.A. Langehough officiating.

Mrs. Betsy Rust was born July 4, 1866 in Rock Township, Mitchell county, the daughter of Lars and Ingeborg Brekke Mikkelson. She attended the rural schools near her farm home south of St. Ansgar and on November 6, 1881 she was confirmed by the Rev. J. Olsen at the First Lutheran church.

She became the bride of Nils H. Rust in July 1883 and moved to her new home five miles north of St. Ansgar. Five children were born to this union.

On November 12, 1916, Nils Rust passed away but Mrs. Rust continued to reside on the farm until 1925 when she moved to St. Ansgar where she and her daughter, Ida had lived since.

Mrs. Rust's health began to fail in 1949, but she was able to attend to her home duties until the last few weeks. On Sunday, December 3, she passed away at the Memorial hospital.

Mrs. Rust was a life-long member of the First Lutheran church and was active in the Ladies' Aid and Cemetery society as long as her health permitted.

She is survived by her five children; Henry and Gilman, residing on the old homestead; Frank of Minneapolis; two daughters, Ida at home and Nellie (Mrs. Frank Chatman of Osage); also four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mrs. Rust was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and four brothers.

Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Langehough officiating at the committal services.
