Another pioneer, Christopher C. Goplerud, has passed to his reward, after a lifetime of valuable service to the community in which he lived. Mr. Goplerud died Sunday morning, August 2, 1936, after a week's illness. He suffered a stroke a week before and had been unconscious to the end. His health for the past couple of years had failed from the time he had a former slight stroke.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday afernoon at the Osage Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Ylvisaker, of Northwood. Burial was made in the Osage Cemetery.
For a great many years Mr. Goplerud was a successful farmer in Rock Township, seven miles west and one mile north of Osage. His farm and his home were recognized as among the best ones in the county.
Since retiring from active life, Mr. Goplerud has made his home with his children, and it was at the home of his eldest son, Chris, near Otranto, that his fatal illness overtook him.
OBITUARY
Christopher C. Goplerud was born December 30, 1862, in Hadelen, Norway, the eldest son of Christopher and Kjersti Goplerud, and came to the United States with his parents in 1867, settling first in Dane county, Wisconsin. Two years later they moved to Mitchell county, where the rest of his life was spent.
On March 7, 1891, he married Anna Hundeby, and to this union three sons were born: Chris, St. Ansgar; Gerhard and John, Osage. Besides the children he leaves to mourn his passing, his widow, six grandchildren, and the following brothers and sisters: Harry Goplerud, Osage; John Goplerud, Santa Monica, Calif.; Mrs. Guri Fjelde, Parkland, Wash.; Mrs. E.Z. Larson, St. Paul, Minnesota; Mrs. Ingeborg Fjelde, Montpelier, N. Dakota.
