LYLE, MINNESOTA -- Orville J. Mortensen, 91, of St. Ansgar, Iowa, a retired rural letter carrier formerly of Lyle, died Wednesday (Nov. 3, 1993) at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital in Osage, Iowa.
He was born Nov. 12, 1901, in Lyle and was married there on June 24, 1950. His wife, Laura, preceded him in death. Mr. Mortensen lived in the Lyle area all his life. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lyle and the Lyle American Legion.
Survivors include two sons, Jack Finnegan of Gainesville, Florida, and Donald Finnegan of Brownsdale; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Katherine Howard of Lyle. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with the Rev. Harold Luechke officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mona, Iowa, with military graveside rites by the Lyle American Legion.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
