Rose Elizabeth “Betty” (Lucas) Wherry – January 14, 1913 – April 24, 2004

Rose Elizabeth "Betty" (Lucas) Wherry was born on January 14, 1913 in Clements, Iowa to Jessie and Mary Elizabeth (Fisher) Lucas. She grew up around Marshalltown and Melbourne, IA, and attended Iowa State College at Ames, Iowa for one year.

On November 18, 1936 she married John Everett Wherry at McIntire. He preceded her in death on October 28, 1962.

Betty farmed in the McIntire area along with her husband until his death. She then owned and operated the Ye Olde Curiosity Shop in LeRoy, MN. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in McIntire and a former member of the Eastern Star. For the last six years, she lived near her oldest son, Everett, in Fond du Lac, WI. She died at the Golden Years in Fond DuLac on April 24, 2004 at the age of 91.

Surviving are two sons: Everett (Denise) Wherry of Fond du Lac and Teddy (Barbara) Wherry of Fair Oaks, CA; one sister, Mabel Teeters of State Center, IA; six grandchildren, Todd Wherry, Russell Wherry, Cindy Merrill, Connie (Jeff) Dolden, Dixie (Alex) Marudas and Brandon Wherry; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; and four brothers and sisters

Burial was in the Wayne Cemetery, Mitchell Co., Iowa
