OLSON, NELSON

Amos E. Olson, son of Endre and Guri Olson, was born at St. Ansgar, Iowa, on November 16, 1855, and departed this life from his home in St. Ansgar on Sunday afternoon, June 18th, 1922 being at the time of his passing 66 years, 7 months, and 2 days of age.

Some years ago, Mr. Olson became afflicted with chronic bronchitis, which gradually grew worse. During the winter of 1918 he suffered a severe attack of pleurisy. An operation became necessary and, although the operation was successful, it left him in a weakened condition. About a week before his death he again suffered an attack of pleurisy. Prompt medical care seemed to relieve the trouble and there were good hopes for an early recovery. This relief was only temporary, however, and he passed to his reward on Sunday afternoon, June 18th.

Amos E. Olson was baptized in the First Lutheran Church of St. Ansgar, Iowa, on December 2nd 1855, and confirmed on April 23rd, 1871, being a life-long member and faithful attendant of this congregation.

On December 1st, 1881, he was married to Miss Helen Nelson of Lyle, Minnesota, and their home was established on the old farm north of St. Ansgar. In 1908 he retired from active life and removed to St. Ansgar.

To mourn his departure he leaves his loving wife, Mrs. Helen Olson, who so faithfully nursed him thru the many attacks of sickness; his brother, Ole E. Olson, and his family, all of St. Ansgar and many other relatives and friends.

The funeral was conducted at the First Lutheran CHurch, St. Ansgar, Iowa, Rev. M.E. Waldeland officiating on Tuesday, June 20th, at 1:00 p.m. and the remains were laid to rest at the Evergreen Cemetery north of St. Ansgar.

In this hour of unexpected sorrow we have been greatly strengthened and comforted by the many friends who have done so much to show their love and sympathy and we extend to all our heartfelt thanks.
