Ole E. Olson, son of Endre and Guri Olson, was born at Rock Prairie, Wisconsin, November 13, 1851, and departed this life at his home at St. Ansgar, Iowa, November 6, at 1:10 a.m. At the time of his death he was 70 years, 11 months, and 24 days of age. Mr. Olson had been in good health until a few years ago when he was afflicted with inflammatory rheumatism and other complicated diseases which turned into pneumonia the last hours of his life.
The deceased was baptized at Rock Prairie, Wisconsin, in 1851, and was confirmed at St. Ansgar, Iowa, by Rev. Clausen in 1866. He was a member of the first confirmation class of this church and a life long member of this congregation.
Mr. Olson came to St. Ansgar with Rev. Clausen's second colony in the spring of 1854 and was one of the first settlers of St. Ansgar, Iowa.
On December 29, 1883, he was married to Miss Carrie T. Golberg of Gol, Norway, and their home was established at St. Ansgar where they lived all their life except one year's residence at Clear Lake, Iowa.
To mourn his departure he leaves his loving wife, and three sons, Ervin G., Oliver C., and Pamer C. all of St. Ansgar, Iowa, besides many other relatives and friends. His brother, Amos preceded him in death on June 18, 1922.
Mr. Olson was one of the most prominent citizens of our town. He was holding the office of assessor at the time of his death and had filled it for many years, being one of the most painstaking and popular assessors we ever had. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The funeral was held at the First Lutheran Church last Wednesday, conducted by Rev. Ylvisaker, of Northwood, who acted in the absence of the pastor, Rev. Waldeland.

Mr. Olson had been in failing health for a long time and a few weeks ago was compelled to take to his bed on account of rheumatism. Sunday morning he was also taken with pneumonia, which progressed with great rapidity, terminating in his death the next morning.
The funeral is being held today at the First Lutheran Church, at one thirty, conducted by Rev. Ylvisaker of Northwood.
