Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 25, 1986, at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville for Delphin L. Hemann. The mass was concelebrated by Father Everett Hemann, Father John Hemann and Father Carl J. Manternach. Burial was in the Visitation cemetery.
Delphin L. Hemann was born in Stacyville on August 1, 1908, the son of Mathias and Gertrude (Hackenmiller) Hemann. He was baptized and confirmed in Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville, and received his education at Visitation School.
For several years he worked on the farm of his brother. In 1939, he bought the Stolzenberg corn shelling business and operated a custom corn shelling business for 36 years. In 1976 he sold that business to Fred Bissen. He never married, and his sister, Rose kept house for him.
On January 27, 1980, he suffered a stroke and entered the Stacyville Community Nursing Home.
He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and St. Joseph's Society. He was Secretary-Treasurer of the Holy Name Society for four years; Chief Ranger of the Foresters for five yeras; was head usher at Visitation Church for 20 years; was a 4-H Club leader of the Stacyville Jolly Jacks for ten years, and was treasurer of the Northeast Iowa Association of the Catholic Order of Foresters for two years.
