A memorial service was held for Irene Dieterich Prince on Sunday, January 5, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Des Moines, Iowa. The Rev. Krumery officiated. Irene died on Thursday, January 2, 1986, in a Des Moines hospital as a result of cancer.

She was born March 15, 1941, the daughter of Stanley and Louise Dieterichs. She was educated in Osage schools. She attended Oberlin Collge in Oberlin, Ohio, and received a BMU degree in 1963, majoring in piano performance. She spent her junior year in Salzburg, Austria studying at the Mozarteum and traveling in Europe. She spent two years graduate study at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. She taught at DePaul University in Dekalb, Illinois.

On January 8, 1980, she and Darrell (Jerry) Prince of Des Moines were married. She continued her work as an organist at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and as music teacher at the Professional Music Center of Des Moines.

Her father, Stanley, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Prince; her mother, Mrs. Louise Dieterichs of Osage; two sisters, Gail Dieterichs of San Diego, California, and Sylvia Dieterichs of Osage.
