RITES HELD FOR ED JOHNS, 72
DIES AFTER ILLNESS OF SEVERAL MONTHSOsage – Funeral services were held Friday afternoon for Ed Johns, 72, who died late Wednesday afternoon after an illness of several months. Services were at Champions Funeral Home at 2 o’clock under the direction of the Rev. Glen Hartong, Methodist pastor, with burial in the Osage Cemetery.
Mr. Johns was born in Woodstock, Illinois, in 1870, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Johns. At an early age, he came with his family to Iowa, and for the past 40 years has lived in Mitchell County.
They first resided on a farm near New Haven, then on various other farms.
Mr. Johns lived with the Coltons at Orchard for some time, working their farm, then retired to a home in Orchard.
He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ed Cooper of South Dakota, and three brothers; Roy of Orchard; Willis of Spring Valley, Minn., and George, last heard of in Canada. One sister and two brothers preceded him in death.

ILL MANY MONTHSEd Johns, about 70 years old, died at Nissen hospital, Osage, Iowa, last night after an illness that has extended over many months.
Mr. Johns spent the greater part of his life in Mitchell county. He never married, but worked at the farm of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Colton for many years; then when they passed away, continued to reside there and assisted the daughters, Sylvia and Sophronia, both of whom are now deceased.
Mr. JOhns is survived by seveal brothers and sisters, one of whom is Roy Johns, of orchard.
Funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m., at Champion's.
