Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, December 3, 1986 at Champion Funeral Home in Osage for Howard Smalley, 85, of Tripoli, formerly of Osage. Mr. Smalley died Saturday, November 29, 1986 at the Sumner hospital. Reverend Keith Hejnal of United Church of Christ will officiate and burial will be in the Orchard Cemetery.
Visitation will be after noon on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Smalley was born May 24, 1901 to Harley and Minnie (Warrington) Smalley. He graduated from Osage High School.
On November 15, 1924, he married Veva Blandon in Waterloo.
Mr. Smalley was the area maintenance mechanic for the Iowa State Highway Commission for 35 years, retiring in 1965.
He resided in Osage until 1984 when he moved to Tripoli.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Veva in June of 1986; his parents; and a grandson.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Harriet) Flatla of Northfield, Minnesota, and Mrs. Ernie (Marjorie) Moran of Sumner; a son, Larry of Sumner; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
