VEVA SMALLEY
Funeral services were held Monday, June 30, 1986 for Mrs. Howard (Veva) Smalley, 82, of Tripoli, formerly of Osage, at Champion Funeral Home in Osage. The Reverend Ermine Todd of Faith United Church of Christ officiated and burial was in the Orchard Cemetery. She died Friday, June 27, 1986 at a Waterloo hospital.
Mrs. Smalley was born September 19, 1903 in Mitchell County to Mahlon and Minnie (Ferguson) Blandin. She was educated in the Orchard schools. On November 15, 1924, she married Howard Smalley of Waterloo. The couple lived in Osage until 1984 when they moved to Tripoli.
She worked for many years as a seamstress for McGrane's Ready to Wear, Helen's Dress Shop and White Way Cleaners. For over 30 years, she taught Sunday school for the United Church of Christ, Osage.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, eight brothers, and one grandson.
Survivors include: her husband, Howard of Tripoli; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Harriet) Flatla of Northfield, Minnesota, Mrs. Ernie (Marjorie) Moran of Sumner; one son, Larry Smalley of Tripoli; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
