BEN COLTON DIED
LAST THURSDAY -
BURIED AT ORCHARD SATURDAY

Benjamin Colton was born January 15, 1855, in Mitchell County, on what is now known as the Charles Lewis farm. He was the son of a veteran and his mother was the daughter of a veteran, from whom he inherited his love for the land of his birth. His parents were George and Diana Colton, who came to this country in 1854 and settled on the afore mentioned farm. After a short illness Ben passed away at his home in Osage, May 29, 1924.

Benjamin Colton has lived in this country his entire life, with the exception of eight years which he spent in Missouri. In 1881 he bought a farm in East Lincoln Township on which he resided until 1910, when he moved to Osage, where he lived until the day of his death.

On December 4, 1895 he was united in marriage with Grace Lytle, and to this union four children were born: George H., Leslie L., Gretta (Now Mrs. C. V. McDowell), and Benjamin, all residing in the county. He is also survived by three grandchildren and three sisters and one brother - G. D. Colton, Sophonia and Sylvia Colton, of Orchard, and Mrs. Alfred Chatman, of Osage.

Ben Colton was a kind father, a good neighbor and an honest citizen.

The Reverend Walker conducted funeral services at the home Saturday afternoon at 1:30, after which the remains were taken to the Orchard church, where a short services was held and interment was in the cemetery at that place.
