STACYVILLE, IOWA - The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wolf were greatly shocked on hearing of the death of their oldest daughter, Amelia, last Friday evening.
She had been in usual health and had spent the day helping her mother with the home duties. A weak heart is thought to be the cause of the sudden appearance of the death angel. Funeral services were held at the Catholic church Monday morning.

Amelia Wolf is Stricken Without Warning Saturday Morning.
WAS SICK ONLY A FEW HOURS.
Was Taken With Fainting Spell Late Friday Afternoon and She Passed Away Shortly After Midnight – Paralysis of the Heart is Given as the Cause of Death.
Amelia Wolf is dead!
These were the words that flew with lightning rapidity through our little village last Saturday morning. As it passed from lip to lip in hushed whisper it was hard to realize that it was the truth, for she had not been sick and no one knew that she had been ailing. As the truth of the words sank in and the realization that one who was just budding into young womanhood was no more, it was a shock to the entire community.
Friday she was helping her mother cleaning house and to all appearances was as well as ever. In the afternoon she was taken with a fainting spell, during which she swooned several times. Dr. Brown was summoned and it was thought no serious results would follow. In fact it was thought late at night that it would not be necessary to set up with her longer and a little before midnight Mr. and Mrs. Wolf retired; and Joe’s mother, who was going to sleep with Amelia, was just getting ready to go to bed when she noticed the change. She hastily called Joe and at twenty minutes after twelve she passed away.
Death was caused by paralysis of the heart. Amelia Wolf was born June 2, 1897 in Stacyville, Iowa, and died at her home here June 14, 1913. The span of her life was 16 years and 12 days. Her short life was spent in this village, and her taking away brought sorrow to all, for she was a great favorite among the young people with whom she mingled.
She took especial delight in obeying the dictates of her church and was an ardent worker therein. She took her first communion the June 26, 1910 and was confirmed May 24, 1912. She was a member of the Young ladies’ Sodality. She lived a consecrated Christian life and died a triumphant and happy death.
She was in her happy teens; the time when youth stands waiting before the half-open door that leads into a fairer and more promising land of dreams and flowers. She was of an affectionate disposition, bright and winning in her ways, so that friendships circle was to her a large one. She was a kind and obedient daughter, and her devotion to the family circle had no limit.
Her future was full of promise, and we dare not ask why she was taken thus in her prime, unless, as the flowers are picked before the frost finds them that we may not witness their decay. It is sad, indeed, to see one so well equipped for life taken so unexpectedly, yet for her there was no standing on the boarder land, gazing into the unknown, for death came as the sunset dies along the hills when the day is over. The end was quiet and peaceful.
Beside the grief stricken parents, leaves three brothers and three sisters to cherish her memory. Funeral services were held Monday morning in St. Mary’s church, conducted by the pastor, Fr. Schlueter, and the interment being made in the adjoining cemetery.
