Tressa Rose (Worple) Myers

January 6, 1872 - December 18, 1950

Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon, December 21, 1950, for Mrs. Rose Myers from St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Riceville. Her pastor, Rev. Walter Schroeder, officiated.

Tressa Rose Myers, daughter of the late Charles Worple and his wife Rozena, nee Streich, was born on January 6, 1872 at Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. There she was also baptized in infancy in the name of the Triune God. As a child, she came with her parents to Howard County.

In 1899 she was married to George W. Myers. They made their home in Howard county for many years and were therefore well known in Howard and Mitchell Counties. Three children were born to this union: Henrietta, Mrs. Gordon Schreiber of Alta Vista, Iowa, Fred, also of Alta Vista; and Lloyd of Riceville. On September 4, 1931, her husband preceded Mrs. Myers in death.

In 1913, as a member of a large class of adult catechumens, Mrs. Myers became a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Riceville by the rite of confirmation and was a member of this church the remainder of her life.

Since the death of her husband, Mrs. Myers made her home with her children. For the past several years she was failing in health. In her last illness, in which she was bedfast for the past six months at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gordon Scheiber, she was very patient. There she received the best of care. But the Lord of life and death deemed it wise to call her, hence she fell asleep peacefully at 5:00 o'clock Monday evening, December 18, 1950. Thus her days on earth numbered 78 years, 11 months and 21 days.

Besides her three children, she leaves to mourn her departure, 16 grandchildren. She is being survived also by two brothers, Charles Worple of Riceville; William Worple of Elma; three sisters: Minnie, Mrs. Kapka of Alta Vista; Tillie, Mrs. George Schreiber of Garber, Oklahoma; and Edith, Mrs. Herman Kapka of Kayward, Oklahoma.

One sister, Anna, Mrs. Ed Kapka, and one brother, Fred Worple, preceded her in death.

Interment was made in the cemtery of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, south of Riceville.

Pallbearers were six of her grandsons: Myron, Eugene, Ivan, Lou, LuVerne, George and Bejamin Myers.
