Peter Miller, an old-time and honored Howard County resident, passed away on October 19, 1926, at the old homestead where he had lived for the pat fifity years. Death was caused from old age and intestinal flu. Burial was made in the Lutheran cemetery south of town, conducted by pastor W. Leckband and attended by the numerous friends of the deceased and family.

Peter Miller was born in Hanover, Germany, April 15, 1837, and had reached the ripe old age of 89 years, 6 months and 4 days. He came to America in 1850, locating in Wisconsin. In 1867 he was married to Louise Lubbert and in 1874 another change in location was made, to the farm in Howard county which has since continued to remain the home.

Mrs. Miller, ten years his junior, four sone, three daughters, sixteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild survive the deceased. Two daughters preceded him in death.

Peter Miller was the last charter member of St. Peter's Evangelican Lutheran congregation, and continued an active and interested member until failing health no longer permitted him to attend divine service. He died confessing his savior and the scriptures say, "Blessed are the death that died in the Lord." He was a thorough Christian, a real gentleman and a credit to the community."
