Louise Miller
a.k.a. Anna Maria Louise Miller
#1:
The ranks of the pioneers are steadily thinning. Sixty-two years ago Peter Miller and his young bride moved into Iowa from Wisconsin and settled along the Wapsie in the woods south of the later established hamlet of Riceville. Several years later they established a permanent home on the farm known these fifty years or more as the Miller place. It was here that Mr. Miller breathed his last, on October 19, 1926. It was in the same room that his wife, Louise, closed her eyes on the morning of September 10, 1935. Incidentally, the cause of death in the case of both Mr. and Mrs. Miller was the same, old age and intestinal flu.
Anna Marie Louise Miller, nee Lubbert, was born on December 24, 1847 in Germany. As an infant she received Holy Baptism in the Lutheran Church. She remained a faithful and active member until her Savior called her home. She remained surprisingly active physically and mentally, insisting on helping with the lighter kitchen duties up to with a week of her death. she went into the last, long sleep like atired child at night, calmly, without a struggle, almost unnoticed. Her mortal remains were laid to rest in the Lutheran Cemetery on September 12. Her pastor, Rev. Walter Leckband being in charge of the services. The days of her earthly pilgrimage was 87 years, 8 months, and 24 days.
Four sons: C.F. Lubbert, Albert, John, and August Miller of Riceville; three daughters: Mrs. Lizzie Moeller of Wilton Junction, Iowa; Mrs. E. C. Schnepper and Mrs. Lena Miller of Riceville; 19 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren survive the deceased.
