James G. Seavy 1935-2005

James G. Seavy, 69, of 4507 Navajo Drive NE, died at St. Luke's Hospital Friday, January 14, 2005, after a brief illness. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Kay Slocum of First Lutheran Church. Burial will be at a later date. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel.
Survivors include his wife Donna; a son David Seavy of Rochester, Minnesota; a daughter, Teresa Edward Maginn of South Bend, Indiana; two brothers, Gary Marlene of Idaho, and Jerry Karen of Cedar Rapids; a brother-in-law, Chuck Eckhart of Waterloo; six grandchildren, Michael and Nicholas Seavy , and Grace, Jacob, Emma, and Theodore James Maginn; many brothers and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Barbara Eckhart.
Jim was born February 11, 1935 in Howard County to Gaylord and Hazel Seavy. He married Donna Williams in Cedar Rapids on September 2, 1956. He worked for Cedar Rapids Inc. for over 43 years, retiring in 1997. Jim was a Scout Leader for over 20 years and was a 50 year member of the Machinest's Union Local #831. He was an avid golfer and bicyclist, and he loved to canoe in the Boundary Waters.
