Marvin J. Bensend Sr. 1935-2004
MARVIN BENSEND SR., 69, of 7105 31st, Atkins, died there Friday October 15, 2004.
Services: 10 a.m. Monday, Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Louis Bell. Burial: 1:30 p.m., Riverside Cemetery, Riceville.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.Marvin is survived by two sons; Marvin (Patsy) Bensend Jr. of West Point, Miss.; and Tom Bensend of Atkins; five grandchildren; Marvin III (Cheryl); David (Debbie; Danny (Nicolle); John and Charlie; seven great-grandchildren, Erin, Angel, James Christopher, Michael, Brittany, Sherie and Amee; three brothers; Bob of Stacyville; Russell (Janet) Riceville; and Dale (Donna) of St. Ansgar; and a daughter-in-law Terri Bensend of Solon.
Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Ella; four children, Diane; Frank; Fred; and Lonnie; a grandchild; Brad; and a sister; Virginia.
Marvin was born April 22, 1935 in Riceville, the son of Cecil and Nina Foster Bensend.
He married Ella Harper on October 21, 1956, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.Marvin worked for Farmstead Foods for 35 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of United Food and Commercial Workers.
