Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, August 13, at the Six Mile Grove Lutheran church east of Lyle, Minn., for Lisa Nelson, 93, who died Thursday evening at the home of Minnie Mehus in St. Ansgar. The Rev. Stanley V. Gjervik was in charge of the services. Burial was made in the cemetery by the church.
Lisa Nelson was born on the home farm in Mower county, Minn., one mile east of Lyle on August 3, 1857, to Nils Olson and Ann Paulson Olson. She was one of a family of five sons and four daughters, all preceding her in death. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church.
Miss Nelson was a seamstress and spent her life caring for others. After the death of her father, she cared for her mother for nine years until her death. During her life she spent considerable time at various places in Minnesota, South Dakota, California, and in Iowa. The later years of her life she made her home in St. Ansgar with her sister, Mrs. Helen Olson. After her sister died she was cared for at the home of Minnie Mehus. Surviving are a number of nephews and nieces.
