MITCHELL RITES FOR TOM THOMPSON
Funeral rites for a former Mitchell resident, Tom Thompson, 96, were held May 4, 1980, at the Champion Funeral Home in Osage. Mr. Thompson died May 2, 1980, at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital.
The Reverend David Presher, pastor of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Osage, was in charge of the services and burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Mitchell.
Thomas Thomson was born August 10, 1883, in Mitchell County, the son of Chris and Suzanna Quitzau Thomson. He was married to Ina Belle Ritter Thoms and they established their home in Mitchell, remaining there until they became residents of the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in St. Ansgar one year ago.
Surviving are his wife, Ina Belle; two step-daughters, Mrs. Louis Novak (Myrtle) of Grafton and Mrs. Albion Decklever (Dorothy) of Creston; six step-grandchildren; and one brother, Andrew Thompson of McCallsburg.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother and two sisters.

Tom Thompson grew up on a farm 3 1/2 miles north of Mitchell and married Ina Toms. They lived in Mitchell where he worked as a local carpenter and was an avid fisherman. Tom spent most of his retired years on the river fishing below the damn and knew all the secret fishing holes. He also enjoyed gardening.
