Funeral services for Thomas Torp Nyboe, 69, who died at his home in St. Ansgar Saturday, February 14, were held at the First Lutheran church Tuesday, February 17 with the Rev. O. A. Langehough officiating.

Thomas Torp Nyboe was born January 21, 1884 in Lemvig, Denmark, the son of Christian and Anna (Wang) Nyboe. He was baptized and confirmed at the Lemvig Lutheran church by Rev. Nelson.

At the age of 17 he became a sailor for the Scandinavian American Line and sailed the seas for a number of years. In the year 1907, Tom left Copenhagen for Canada and lived there for three years. He then went to Chicago where his two sisters were living.

Mr. Nyboe came to Mitchell county in 1914 and was employed at various occupations. On September 16, 1942, he enlisted in the Merchant Marines as a first cook and later steward in the Marine organization. He received his honarable discharge from that branch of the service March 24, 1945. Since that time he has made his home in St. Ansgar. His health began to fail in 1951 and he sought medical aid from local doctors and also at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. He was confined to his home for several months. His sister, Mrs. Pauline Jensen of Chicago, came to care for him in his last illness.

Tom Nyboe is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Chris Jensen of Chicago and Mrs. Chris Matson of Jamestown, North Dakota; one brother, James W. Nyboe of Chicago and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mrs. Anna Back.

Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Langehough in charge of committal services.
