Funeral services were held Saturday for Mrs. Matilda Nelson, 79, at the Champion Funeral Home and later at the First Lutheran church in St. Ansgar. The Rev. Harold Kruger, pastor of Central Lutheran church in Mason City, was in charge of the services, and burial was in the Riverview cemetery south of St. Ansgar.

Mrs. Nelson died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Morris Hanson in Mason City, where she had lived for three years.

Matilda Theoline Ask was born October 31, 1876, in Rock township, Mitchell county, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ole L. Ask. She was baptized and confirmed at Rock Creek Lutheran church, and was married June 4, 1899, to Emil G. Nelson.

Most of her married life was spent on a farm north of St. Ansgar. She has made her home with her children since the death of her husband in 1935.

Her children: Mrs. Charles Hewitt and Mrs. Knut Gundrson of Clear Lake; Mrs. Morris Hanson of Mason City; Mrs. Tom Wamstad of Lyle; Mrs. Roy Witt of Osage; and Earl of Mason City, two sisters: Mrs. Iver Rossum of Osage; Mrs. Thorvald Synsby of Mitchell, 13 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren, survive.

Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, two sons who died in infancy, three brothers and two sisters.
