MAY, HEMANN, HACKENMILLER, PITZEN, BRUMM

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 6, 1988 at Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville, for Henry J. May, 101 of Stacyville. The Reverend Alois May and Reverend Carl Manternach officiated and burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meyer. Mr. May died Wednesday, February 3, 1988 at the Stacyville nursing home.

Mr. May was born June 12, 1886 in Meyer to Bernard and Margaret (Hemann) May. He attended schools in Meyer and married Anna Hackenmiller on September 38, 1909 in Meyer. The couple farmed all of their married life in the Meyer area and retired to Stacyville in 1960. Mr. May enjoyed woodworking and was an avid card player. In 1987 he received the Centurion Award from Governor Terry Branstad.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter; and a son.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Joe (Betty) Martyniak of Raynham, Massachusetts, Mrs. Robert (Olivia) Pitzen of Stacyville, Mrs. Ralph (Evelyn) Brumm of Osage, and Sister Margaret May of North Riverside, Illinois; five sons, Bernard, Othmar and Edmund, all of Stacyville, Fred of Rose Creek, Minnesota, and Tony of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin; 48 grandchildren and 81 great-grandchildren.
