William Henry Miller was born in Madison, Wisconsin, August 31, 1869 and passed away at his home near Lyle, Minnesota, on Saturday, March 1, 1924. When about two years of age his parents came to Iowa, living for a while at Stacyville. Later they moved onto a farm west of St. Ansgar. Here he spent his boyhood days.
His father died when he was fifteen years old, leaving him with the care of his mother and the younger children. He then obtained a position from E.J. Stokes, north of Mitchell, with whom he stayed eight years. After that he rented a farm east of St. Ansgar and began work for himself.
On March 23, 1896, he was united in marriage with Mary Eukel. To this union were born four children, Frank, Lorna, Vina and Donald, all of whom are living.
He lived on the Connell farm eight years, then moved to the J.F. Kock farm northeast of St. Ansgar, where he lived twelve years. Ten years ago he bought a farm northeast of Lyle where he has since made his home.
Through all his suffering his mind was always on his Savior. His greatest comfort during the last months of his life was in having his family kneel in prayer with him. His last conscious hours were spent in telling of his safety with Jesus.
He was loved by all who knew him, a kind father and husband, and always considerate of his neighbors. Besides his wife and family and a host of friends he leaves to mourn his loss, two sisters and one brother, Mrs. A.C. Hansen, Miss Alice Miller and Harvey all living near Osage.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 4, 1924, Rev. C.S.Vang officiating at Lyle at the church and Rev. M.E. Waldeland officiating at St. Ansgar at the grave.
