VERVAECKE, Cyriel 1892-1985

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 26, 1985, at St. Ansgar Catholic Church for Cyriel Vervaecke, 93, who died on Monday, June 24 at the Stacyville Nursing Home. Father John Smith officiated and burial was in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.

Cyriel Vervaecke was born January 20, 1892, in Meulebeke, Belgium, the son of Edward and Visney Lannoo Vervaecke. He was the youngest of five children. He completed eight years of schooling in Belgium.

Cyriel and Irme Vaernewyck were united in marriage. Two children, Albert and Elsie, were born to this union.

Cyriel, his wife and two children came to the United States in 1919. They settled near London, Minnesota. The family later moved to the Otranto area where he farmed until his retirement. In 1968 they moved to St. Ansgar, where they made their home for several years. Cyriel had lived in the Stacyville Nursing Home for the past two years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irma, his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his son, Albert, of St. Ansgar; his daughter, Elsie Eller of Hubbard; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
