Funeral services were held Saturday, March 16, 1985, at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City for Earl E. Buttjer, 62, of Riceville, Iowa. Rev. J. Hillsman of the Howardville Wesleyan Church officiated. Graveside committal services were held at 3:45 p.m., at the Dumont Cemetery, Dumont, Iowa. He died on Wednesday, March 13, at a Rochester, Minnesota, hospital.
Earl E. Buttjer was born Sept. 30, 1922, at Aredale, Iowa, to Henry and Viola Bamlett Buttjer. He was educated in Hansell and married Eleanor Brattrud on May 22, 1941 at Bethany, Missouri. He was a farmer in the Aredale and Dougherty areas for 27 years and a farmer in the Riceville area for 17 years.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor; one daughter, Shirley Buttjer, a student at Upper Iowa University, Fayette; a son, Earldean, Lombard, Illinois; four grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Beryl (Edith) Bobst, Clear Lake and Mrs. Darrell (Mildred) Woodley of Dougherty.
