Death of Mrs. Geo. A. Tupper

On Saturday morning death entered the family circle of George A. Tupper of Lincoln township and claimed his wife, Lydia Ann Hopkins Tupper, aged fifty-two years. She was born in Hebron, Illinois, May 24, 1852, and with her parents came to Iowa in 1868, settling on a farm in Douglas township. On Dec. 17, 1872, she was married to George A. Tupper, and went to his farm in Lincoln township, where they have since resided. Mrs. Tupper was a woman who found her greatest enjoyment in the home circle, and to which all her efforts were wisely directed.

In her life and character she exemplified all the endearing traits of a faithful loving wife, a kind friend and a good neighbor. During the past year she has mingled but little in society, preferring the quiet of her own home to that of other associations and friendships. She was loving, considerate and kind, and her death is a source of sorrow and regret to all who knew her. It is a severe and painful affliction to her husband and children to whom the condolence of the entire community is extended.

When a girl, Mrs.Tupper united with the Methodist church, and her whole life was one of affection goodness and devotion, and the remembrance of it will long linger in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband and seven children, five sons and two daughters, all of whom were with her during her last sickness. The funeral was held at the late home Monday morning. Interment was in our beautiful cemetery.
