ELMER H. LUTZ

MASON CITY - Elmer H. Lutz, 96, of Mason City, died Sunday (Dec. 1, 2002) at the Good Shepherd Health Center.

Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. today at St. James Lutheran Church, 1148 Fourth St. S.E., with the Rev. Scott Duffus officiating. There will be no visitation.

Elmer donated his body to the University of Iowa Department of Anatomy.

Mr. Lutz was born Aug. 29, 1906, in Grafton, the son of William and Martha (Feldt) Lutz. He graduated from Otranto High School in 1925 and from Hamilton Business College in 1927.

He was employed by the American Crystal Sugar Company from 1927 until his retirement in 1971.

He was married to Flossie G. Pyle on Sept. 24, 1936.

He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church to which memorial contributions may be given in his name.

Elmer is survived by his son, Robert Lutz and his wife, Joe Ann, of Des Moines; his daughter, Judith Benson and her husband, William, of Black Butte Ranch, Oregon; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Flossie in 1992; and two sisters, Esther Groth and Elvira Kittleson.
