RICEVILLE, IOWA - Gladys J. Greeley Jacobus, 98, of Riceville, died Monday, March 28, 2011, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage.
She was born July 6, 1912, near New Haven, Mitchell county, Iowa, the daughter of Stephen and Ellen Fox Wagner. On October 10, 1936, she married William Greeley. He died November 16, 1974. On August 9, 1975, she married Ray Jacobus. He died September 30, 1991.
Survived by: two sons, John (Bev) and Richard (Dawn) Greeley; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Glenn Wagner of Osage.
Preceded in death by: a son, James; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Agnes Anderson; and two brothers, Leonard and Robert Wagner.
Services: 9 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Riceville. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Conway Funeral Home, Riceville, with a 4:30 p.m. prayer service.

Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Conway Funeral Home in Riceville. There will be a 4:30 p.m. Prayer Service on Friday.
Gladys J. Jacobus passed away on March 28, 2011, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage, Iowa. She was the oldest of five children, born to Stephen and Ellen (Fox) Wagner on a farm southeast of New Haven, Iowa on July 6, 1912.
Gladys attended New Haven Academy two years, then her family bought a farm south of Riceville, where they moved and she attended Mitchell and Howard County schools. After she was out of school she cared for her grandparents, Christian and Josephine Fox, making her home with them for 2 years. Gladys also worked for several families in and around Riceville.
On October 10, 1936, she was united in marriage to William Greeley. To this union three sons were born, namely, James, John and Richard. The Greeley family farmed around Riceville and McIntire.
After her children were well along in school she worked at the Silver Grill, Dvorak Snack Bar, Riceville Hospital, and retired from Murphy's Bar and Grill on December 29, 1979 after working there for 14 years.
Gladys and William moved to Riceville in 1967 and on November 16, 1974 William passed away very suddenly.
On August 9, 1975 Gladys was married to Ray Jacobus making their home in Riceville. Ray passed away on September 30, 1991 and Gladys continued to live in their home.
Gladys enjoyed her home and loved to cook, bake, crochet, and playing cards with her many friends. She also spent a lot of her time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She leaves to mourn her loss: John and Bev Greeley and family; and Richard and Dawn Greeley and family, one brother, Glenn Wagner; two sister in-laws, Donna Wagner and Eugenia Wagner and a large number of cousins, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by one son: James, one great great grandchild; one sister, Agnes (Edmund) Anderson and 2 brothers, Leonard and Robert Wagner.
