OBITUARY-CUMMINGS

Alma Marie Cummings passed away Wednesday, April 11, at the home of her sister, Mrs. Garrison, in Osage, Iowa.

About a month ago, Alma went to Iowa to visit with her many friends and relatives in that place. She was taken ill there, her dear ones were summoned, and though all that human skill could do, was done, she grew rapidly weaker, and passed peacefully into the other Home, after an illness covering eight days.

The sad journey home with all that was mortal of the "loved and lost" was made on the 23rd and the funeral services were held from the M.E. church on Friday, April 24, Rev. I. B. Wood, of Rochester, officiating, speaking from the text, "Now has Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept."

Six young men of the Epworth League acted as pall bearers, and six little girls from the Sunday school, dreased in white and carring carnations acted as honorary pall-bearers. The profusion of beautiful flowers were silent testimony of the love of many friends.

Alma was born at Little Cedar, Iowa, Sept. 19, 1894 and graduagted from the high school in that place two years ago. About one year ago, she moved with her parents to Stewartville, where she has since made her home.

She became a communicant of the M. E. church in Little Cedar at the age of fourteen, and coming to Stewartville, transferred her membership to this place, always giving untiring service to the Master's work.

Her beautiful character was revealed in every department of church work, especially in the Epworth League and Sunday school, and her ennobling influence in both cannot be calculated.

Shortly before her death she conversed with relatives, bidding them to be of good cheer, expressing her complete faith in the teachings of religion, and her willingness to go whenever summoned. Every hour of her life was spent in loving happy service for others. She lived wholly for the betterment of those with whom she came in contact.

She leaves to mourn her loss her breaved parents, one brother, two sisters, besides other relatives and a host of friends.
