Miss Mary Luella Ames was born in Cataragus county, New York, on October 23, 1860 and died in Osage, Iowa, June 10, 1897, aged 36 years, 7 months and 17 days. She came to Iowa in the early 70's with her parents.
On September 24, 1882, she was married to Geo. W. Prescott in Hardin county and four children were the result of this union, two of whom are living. Mr. Prescott died in 1891 and on June 28, 1893 she and Mr. L. H. Ball were married at Williamstown in Chickasaw county, Rev. T. N. Cook performing the ceremony. In the fall of that year they moved to Osage where they have since lived.
Mrs. Ball leaves a young son a year and a half old to the care of her bereaved husband.
She has been in failing health for about a year and quite sick since the first of March. She had been a member of the Baptist church about six years and continued steadfast in the faith once delivered to the saints.
The funeral was held at the home of G. O. Ball on Saturday, Rev. S. E. Wilcox conducting the service.
