E. Alice Ingebritson 1911-2002
E. Alice (Storby) Ingebritson, 90 of Osage, formerly of Lake Mills, Iowa, died on Monday, January 14, 2002, at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., on Friday, January 18, at the Lake Mills Synod Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, with Rev. Karl Hermanson officiating. Burial was in the Center Cemetery in rural Lake Mills.
Alice was born on November 18, 1911 in Lake Mills, Iowa, the daughter of Pete and Ida (Peterson) Storby. She was baptized, confirmed and married in the Center Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, where she was organist for many years.
On February 18, 1931, she married Herman M. Ingebritson. They were the parents of six children, Ronald Lloyd, Shirley, Gloria Marlene, Marjorie, Phyllis and Wayne. Later, as her children grew up and were in school she started taking care of other small children in their homes.
While living in Alexandria, Minnesota, she took care of Art and Natalie Johnsons children. While living in Mankato, Minnesota, she worked as a cook at Bethany College for several years.
After moving to Osage, she also took care of children. She was a second mother to Dan and Jill in Osage.
Alice had a great sense of humor and her family was extremely important to her. Her positive influence on her children, grandchildren and other people’s children will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her three daughters, Shirley Martinson of Osage, Marjorie and her husband, John Melin and Phyllis and her husband, Bruce Hanak, all of Alexandria, Minnesota; her son, Wayne and his wife, Karen of Elysian, Minnesota; one son-in-law, Richard Wolters of Mankato, Minnesota; 14 grandchildren, Christine Straate, Cathy Woodiwiss, Monica Ring, Meta Weber, Paul Martinson, Nan Frost, Sue Forrey, Curtis Melin, Debbie Hvezda, Jeffrey Hanak, Jason Hanak, Joel Hanak, Cory Sticha and Mandy Ingebritson; by 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one sister, Alma Cleven of Coralville, Iowa; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Julius and Lorriaine Ingebritson of New Ulm, Minnesota; two sisters-in-law, Sarah Storby of Ames and Orpha Storby of Lake Mills; along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Ida Storby; five brothers, Otis, Clifford, Benard, Irving and Lester; one son, Ronald Lloyd Ingebritson; one daughter, Gloria Marlene Wolters; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Lynn Wolters; one grandson, Mickey R. Ingebritson; one son-in-law, Alan R. Martinson; and two great-grandsons, Ryan T. Hvezda and Tristan M. Sticha.
