George William Wright, age 91, of Arizona and formerly of the Little Cedar area, died on Tuesday, January 1, 2002.Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 5. Memorials can be made to the Hospice of the Valley, Eckstein Center, Scottsdale, Arizona.
He was born on September 19, 1910, in Little Cedar and was raised on a farm near there with his family of three brothers and four sisters.
He put together the first band-radio in the county so he and his brother could listen to Big Band music coming from Chicago on the radio. He and his brothers taught themselves to play musical instruments, put together a band and traveled throughout the Midwest. During World War II, he was a test pilot for Norwest Airlines in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
In 1933 he married Selma Marie Miller, they settled in Charles City and in 1960 they moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, where George was employed by Honeywell General Electric as an electrical engineer.
He had a love for flying, dancing, ham radio and was a gifted musician. George was a member of the Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Those that survive him include his wife, Selma; one daughter, Donna O’Donnell-Mills; two sisters, Zella Meyer and Verla Young; one brother, Kenneth Wright; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

George Wright was the son of Ray Wright and Ferne Louvina (Neville) Wright.
