DOROTHY STOLL
FOREST CITY - Dorothy Stoll, 84, formerly of Forest City, presently residing in St. Ansgar, died Wednesday (June 26, 2002) at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.
Her funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City, with the Rev. Lee Laaveg officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Forest City.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until noon at Petersen Lund Funeral Home and from noon until time of services at the church.
Dorothy L. Stoll was born in St. Ansgar, on February 16, 1918, to Sever and Lizzie Halverson. She was baptized and confirmed in the St. Ansgar First Lutheran Church. Dorothy attended the Carpenter Elementary School and the St. Ansgar Elementary and High Schools, graduating from the high school in 1935.
After being employed by the Central Iowa Telephone Co. in St. Ansgar, she was transferred to the Forest City Telephone Co.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Joseph Stoll on November 7, 1940. To this union one son, David Allen, was born.
Beginning in 1952, Dorothy was employed by the Forest City Community School District for 31 years, serving as high school principal's secretary six years and 25 years as the superintendent and school board's secretary. She retired in 1983.
She is survived by one son, Dr. David Stoll, of Morgantown, W.Va. Also surviving are three grandsons, Scott of Irving, Texas, Robert of Tampa, Fla. and Timothy of Dallas; one granddaughter, Jennifer Johnson, her husband, Tim; two great-granddaughters, Morgan Lynn and Jordan Lynn of Morgantown, W.Va.; brothers, LaVern and wife, Verna, Jerry and wife, Mary Ann, all of St. Ansgar; a sister-in-law, Emma Halverson of Shoreview, Minn.; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her parents; her sister, Gladys Nelson; and brother, Stanford Halverson.
