ESTHER C. MCCLELLAN

MASON CITY, IOWA - Esther C. McClellan, 95, died Wednesday (June 12, 2002) at USA Healthcare Center, Mason City.

Her funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Kenneth Hatland of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and will continue until the time of the service Tuesday.

Esther C. McClellan was born March 21, 1907, in Mitchell County, Iowa, the daughter of John and Rhonda Olive (Fods) Ones. She graduated from Osage High School. In 1930 she moved to Mason City, where she worked for the Dr. Bailey family for seven years.

She was united in marriage to Glen E. McClellan on August 26, 1937, in Allison.

Esther was a member of the CCIC neighborhood club and the Sons of Norway. She enjoyed handwork, especially tatting. She enjoyed spending time tatting and giving many of her pieces away to friends and family. She also enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and tending to her flowerbeds. She had a great love for horses. She was very fortunate to have been able to live at home on their farm following Glen's death in 1985 until 1999.

She left the farm to live at the Homestead until August 2001, when she moved to USA Healthcare until her death.

Esther will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her, including her brothers, Birchard O. Ones of Pueblo, Colorado, and Justin Ones and wife, Clara, of Osage; her sisters, Truly Flaaten of Kensett and Winnie Ones of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a sister-in-law, Garda Ones of Mason City; a brother-in-law, Ezra Tebben of Edwardsville, Illinois; several nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great- nephews, and special friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glen; brothers, John and Fods; sister, Janette Tebben; brother-in-law, Truman Flaaten, and sister-in-law, Polly Ones.
