Funeral services were held in today in Torrance, Calif., for former resident of Mitchell County, John Gilles, 57 who died of a malignancy Friday, December 3, 1965. Burial was in a cemetery in California.

Mr. Gilles was a native of the New Haven vicinity. John Peter Gilles was born March 10, 1908, at New Haven, the son of Joseph and Nora Fox Gilles. He was baptized from St Peter's Catholic Church at New Haven and graduated from Riceville High School. He was operator of the Gamble store and engaged in electrical work at Riceville.

His marriage to Lois Simpson took place at Riceville, June 1 1934. In recent years he was engaged as an electric line supervisor in garrison, N.D., and for the past eight years was engineer at Memorial Hospital in Torrance.

His wife, Lois, two sons, Gordon of Minot, N.D., William, at home; two daughters, Mary Beth, at home and Mrs. Terri Mahon of Torrance survive. Also surviving are one brother, Gilbert of Torrance and two sisters, Mrs. Regina McCarville of Fort Dodge and Mrs. Marcella Sprung of Riceville, and four grandchildren.

His father prededed him in death.
