JEREMY 'GOMER' AHLHELM

OSAGE, IOWA - Jeremy "Gomer" Ahlhelm, 19, died Saturday (Aug. 25, 2001) at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester, Minn., from injuries received in an automobile accident on Aug. 19.

Jeremy was born July 13, 1982, in Waterloo, the son of Scott and Becky (Huffman) Ahlhelm. He moved with his family to Osage in 1985. Jeremy attended Osage schools and graduated from Osage High School in 2000.

While in school he participated in football and baseball. One of Jeremy's proudest moments was when he pitched and won a game at the Iowa State High School Baseball Tournament in 2000.

He was employed at Tops Business Forms in Osage.

Jeremy played amateur baseball and slow pitch softball. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 833 Ash St., Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Interment will be in Osage Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, 702 State St., Osage, and will continue from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the funeral home and then one hour before the services at the church.

Jeremy is survived by his parents, Scott and Becky Ahlhelm of Osage; one sister, Mindy Starbuck and her husband, Ray, of Cedar Falls, and a nephew, Zachary Starbuck; maternal grandfather, Ralph Huffman of Evansdale; paternal grandmother, Barbara Ahlhelm of Waterloo; and numerous aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Wilma Huffman, and paternal grandfather, Donald Ahlhelm.
