Funeral services were held Friday, July 1, 1988 at Immaculate Conception Church, Riceville, for Gladys Marr, 89, of Riceville, who died Wednesday, June 29, 1988 at Community Nursing Home, Riceville of natural causes. The Reverend John Carpender officiated and burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Riceville.

Gladys Hubbard married Lloyd Marr on February 6, 1922, in McIntire, Iowa.

Gladys (May 28, 1899 - June 29, 1988) was born in Sumner Township, Chickasaw County to parents William and Elizabeth Hubbard, Their family moved to Riceville in 1913 where she graduated from Riceville High School in 1918 and attended Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Prior to her marriage she taught in the rural Mitchell County School System and clerked in the Mosher-Weaver dry Goods Store in Riceville. They farmed in Mitchell County six miles south of Riceville, moving two miles northeast of New Haven in 1929, where they lived for seven years. They returned to the Riceville farm and moved into Howard County in 1941, where they remained.
