Mrs. Sophia C. Britt,
Former Osage Woman
Buried Here

The remains of Mrs. Sophia C. Britt, a former Osage woman, were brought here for burial Monday, and placed in the local cemetery beside those of her husband, who passed away sixteen years ago.

Funeral services for Mrs. Britt were held at Virginia, Minnesota and a short service conducted by Reverend W. T. Smith, pastor of the Osage Methodist Church, at the grave here.

Mrs. Britt came to Osage forty-seven years ago with her husband, who conducted the mill known as "Britt's Mill", west of town. They were among the earliest residents of the county and had much to do with its development.

The deceased is survived by her daughters, Mrs. M. V. James, of Osage; Mrs. E. E. Swift, of Pasadena, California; and her sons, Charles and Fred of Duluth; B. F. of Virginia and W. H. Britt, of Portland Oregon.

[Mitchell County Press, Wednesday, April 30, 1924]

NOTE: Obviously the newspaper here must be in error, calling her Sophia. All other evidence says she was Rhoda.
