Funeral services for Ole Leraaen were conducted at the First Lutheran church on Friday afternoon, with the Rev. O.A. Langehough in charge. Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery.
Ole H. Leraaen was born March 11, 1860 in Hol, Hallingdal, Norway, son of Halvor and Bergit Olen. He was baptized April 5, 1860, and confirmed June 1, 1876 in the Christian faith. On September 9, 1894 he was united in marriage to Barbra Hagen and to this union was born seven children, one of whom died in infancy.
In 1901 he came to America to make his home, coming to Rock Creek, Iowa, where he worked on farms until the fall when he moved with his family to St. Ansgar.
He started work as a shoe repairman for H.E. Falk and in 1916 he entered partnership with Syverud Brothers in the shoe repair business. In 1920 he purchased what was known as the O'Connor building and started into business for himself, and continued in the shoe repairing business until about two years ago when he was compelled to retire on account of failing health. He has been a member of the First Lutheran Church since 1907.
He continued to be up and around until the day of his death, pasing away on Monday, November 23, 1942 at 2:00 p.m. at the age of 82 years, 8 months, and 12 days. He leaves to mourn his pasing, his wife and six children; Halvor and Henry at home, Mrs. Albert Zarling of Grafton; Knut, Carl, and Gustave of St. Ansgar, and eight grandchildren.
