Maud M. Bailey was born January 11, 1884 in Mitchell County, Iowa, the daughter of Jerome and Nattie McClain.

On February 27, 1902 she was united in marriage to John A. Bailey at Osage, Iowa. In this union was born one son. They farmed in the McIntire area all their life. Mrs. Bailey was a member of the United Methodist Church in McIntire.

Death came to Mrs. Bailey on Sunday, October 17, 1971 at the Osage Nursing home following a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Austin and her husband.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Leota Bailey of Austin, Minnesota; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother Archie McClain of McIntire, Iowa and a half-sister Mrs. Blanch Smutney of Riceville, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 20,1971 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in McIntire with Rev. Maurice Gunn officiating. Mrs. Everett Wherry was the pianist with Mrs. Viva Newhouse and Mrs. Lois Kellogg the singers. Interment was in the Wayne Cemetery in McIntire. Casket bearers were: Art Kesten, Elmo Griffin, Perry Carter, Robert Timmerman, C.K. Eastman and Kersy Byrd. Arrangements were with the Martz-Hutchins Funeral Home in Le Roy.
