Archie J. McClain, the son of Jerome and Nettie McClain, was born on January 10, 1886 in Mitchell County, Iowa.
Archie spent most of his lifetime in the McIntire area with the exception of a few years in California.
On December 20, 1942 he was united in marriage to Greta Miller in Yuma, Arizona.
Archie passed away on March 21, 1974 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester at the age of 88 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and two sisters. Survivors include his wife, Greta of McIntire; two sons, Harris of St. Louis Park, Minnesota and Jerome of New Market, Virginia; a step-daughter, Mrs. Marguerita O'Connell of Schaumburg, Illinois; 8 grandchidlren; 14 great-grandchildren and a half-sister Mrs. Blanch Smutney of Riceville, Iowa.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 25, 1974 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in McIntire with Rev. Richard E. Oehring officiating. Mrs. Louis Kellogg was the pianist. Interment was in the Wayne Cemetery at McIntire. Casket bearers were Elmo Griffin, Arthur Kesten, James Papach, Roger Richardson, Roy Richardson, and Avery Stuckey. Arrangements were with the Hutchins Funeral Home in LeRoy, Minnesota.
